GWADAR: Under the Balochistan government’s agriculture-friendly policy, steps continue to be taken to resolve landowners’ problems, promote the farming sector and support sustainable agriculture. In this connection, a delegation of landowners from Jiwani tehsil and surrounding areas met Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Maqbool Ahmed Baloch at his office. They discussed in detail various problems related to farming.

The delegation said most of the agricultural land in Jiwani and surrounding areas is rain-fed. Cultivation is possible only on a limited scale when it rains, and the land lies uncultivated for most of the year. The landowners expressed concern over the tax levied on uncultivated and rain-fed land. They asked the Balochistan government to review it in view of ground realities.

The meeting also discussed the Benazir Kisan Green Card, agricultural facilities, other problems of landowners and the promotion of farming activities in the area. The delegation stressed the need for effective steps to resolve landowners’ difficulties and to improve access to government agricultural facilities.

Maqbool Ahmed Baloch listened carefully to the landowners’ problems and suggestions. He assured them that their genuine problems and concerns would be conveyed to the relevant senior officials. He said the Agriculture Department would provide all possible cooperation within its available resources and jurisdiction. He said the Balochistan government is taking steps to promote agriculture, facilitate landowners and encourage modern and sustainable farming methods. He added that it is a priority of the Agriculture Department to bring the benefits of these steps to local landowners.
