JIWANI: On the directions of Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Naqeebullah Kakar, Jiwani Assistant Commissioner Tariq Imam made a detailed visit to Jiwani bazaar. The aim was to ensure quality goods for the public, the availability of essential items at fixed prices and an effective system of cleanliness.

During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner inspected several petrol pumps and sealed three of them for selling petroleum products above the fixed prices. He also checked the quality, price lists and expiry dates of food items at shops and business centres.

During the operation, expired goods, non-customs-paid cigarettes and gutka were recovered from several shops and seized. Shopkeepers were strictly directed to refrain completely from selling substandard, health-hazardous and illegal items. Shopkeepers found in violation were also warned to be careful in future and to follow government laws fully.

The Assistant Commissioner also visited several transport stands and hotels. He checked cleanliness, the quality of food and drink, and prices. He directed the traders to improve standards of cleanliness and to charge according to the fixed rates.

Tariq Imam said that providing relief and quality goods to the public was among the district administration’s top priorities. He said action would continue without discrimination against violations of fixed prices, overcharging, substandard and health-hazardous items, and illegal products. The Tehsildar of Jiwani accompanied him on the visit. According to the district administration, monitoring of bazaars, petrol pumps, hotels and other business centres will be made more effective.
