Registration, measurement and licensing of fishing boats speeded up in Gwadar

GWADAR: Registration, measurement and inspection of fishing boats and the issuing of licences are being carried out at speed in Gwadar. The work follows the directions of Balochistan Director General Fisheries Atiqullah Khan and the provincial government’s policy of promoting the welfare of fishermen and of putting the fisheries sector on an organised and legal footing.
The field teams of the Gwadar Fisheries Station are carrying out the work under the supervision of Assistant Director Fisheries Gwadar Shah Fahad. Boats are checked for size, build, documents and records. Eligible boats are then given registration numbers, and fishing licences are issued to them under the rules.
According to the Fisheries Department, licensing will be completed after the size of each boat is determined and the prescribed charges are collected. Fishermen have been urged to get their boats registered, measured and inspected within the set period. This will help organise the sector further and improve facilities for fishermen.
