QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has said that Quetta is not merely the provincial capital but the face of the whole province. He said Quetta is a city blessed with a rich history, unique urban character and rare natural beauty. It is therefore necessary, he said, that all the provincial ministers concerned focus on the real development of Quetta, its beauty and the restoration of its historic standing.

He said this while talking to a delegation that called on him, led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Musleh-ud-Din Mengal.

The governor said it was encouraging that several notable development projects had been started in Quetta during the present government. However, he said, more joint efforts were needed to provide the people of Quetta with quality education, clean drinking water and basic public Health facilities.

Lasting development not possible without citizens’ participation

Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail said every citizen has basic rights, and these are the foundation of a healthy and developed society. He said provincial ministers, parliamentary secretaries and MPAs, along with other departments concerned, could contribute to real progress, prosperity and welfare in restoring the life of Quetta. Through coordinated planning, transparency, accountability and effective implementation of development projects, he said, they could play a lasting role in the city’s prosperity.

He said development could be sustained only when government institutions and the public worked together. He said civic responsibility, environmental awareness and public participation were essential to keep the city clean and protect public infrastructure.

The governor said that if Quetta progressed further, it would strengthen confidence across the whole province. If Quetta is clean, beautiful and well organised, he said, this will be reflected positively in every district of Balochistan. To turn this idea into reality, he said, we must renew our collective resolve.

Other meetings with the governor
