Trump and UAE president discuss Middle East situation in phone call

According to Arab media, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations for mutual interests. They also discussed ongoing developments in the Middle East and efforts to deal with the situation in the region.

According to UAE officials, the official statement did not say whether the two leaders had agreed on any specific diplomatic or military step.

The contact came at a time when the situation in the Middle East is highly sensitive because of the recent military tension between the United States and Iran. After the US strikes, Iran is reported to have targeted US installations in the region with missile and drone attacks. The Gulf states have also stepped up their air defence activity.

The tension between the United States and Iran has made the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf more sensitive. This has raised concerns over global energy supplies and oil prices.

Earlier, in a statement on state television, the Iranian military claimed that it had targeted the US military’s satellite communication system, supply depots and warplane hangars at Kuwait’s Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base.
