He was addressing, as chief guest, a 14 August event at Government Abdul Wahab Soomro School, held with the cooperation of the non-governmental organisation Yar Muhammad Samejha and the District Education Officer. A large number of students, teachers, parents and citizens attended. The students expressed their love for the country by presenting national songs, speeches, tableaux and other items.
The Deputy Commissioner said 14 August is a very important day in the history of Pakistan, when the Muslims of the subcontinent won an independent homeland under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah after a long struggle and countless sacrifices. He said today’s youth are the future of Pakistan. Along with education, he said, they should make discipline, hard work, honesty and patriotism part of their lives.
He said government officers and employees should regard service to the public as their first duty. He said the country’s progress is the responsibility not only of the government but of every individual. Pakistan can be made a strong, peaceful and prosperous country, in line with the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, only by promoting unity, brotherhood and tolerance. He urged teachers to step up their efforts to build the character of students. At the end of the event, prayers were offered for the country’s security, progress and stability.
