KHUZDAR: Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri has inaugurated a safe pharmacy, an emergency centre, a health card service and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Teaching Hospital to improve health facilities.

Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, Building Executive Engineer Saleem Razzaq Umrani, Teaching Hospital Khuzdar Medical Superintendent Dr Shabbir Ahmed Mengal, District Health Officer Dr Abdul Hameed Lehri, Haji Abdul Salam Mengal, notables of the city and other officers were also present at the ceremony.

Safe pharmacy and emergency centre

Addressing the ceremony, Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri said the start of the 24-hour service of the safe pharmacy and the safe emergency centre was an important part of the new facilities. Patients are expected to find it easier to reach medical care day and night.

The aim of keeping the safe pharmacy and the safe emergency centre open 24 hours a day is to make medicines and emergency care available to patients at any time. Patients and their families need immediate help, especially at night and in sudden medical emergencies.

Round-the-clock availability of a pharmacy and emergency service inside the hospital can help meet an important public need. The availability of essential medicines at the safe pharmacy, timely medical aid at the emergency centre and quick resolution of patients’ problems can make the results of these steps better still.

Health card and NICU

The start of the health card service will help eligible patients reach treatment facilities in line with the available policy and rules. He said that for the service to work well, patients must be given clear guidance on eligibility, procedure and the documents needed for treatment, so that they can use the facilities without unnecessary difficulty.

The opening of the NICU is an important development for the health sector in Khuzdar. Newborns sometimes need special medical care after birth because of breathing difficulty, low weight, premature birth and other complications. Modern equipment, trained staff and constant monitoring are vital for such babies.

With the NICU, families in Khuzdar and surrounding areas may get an important medical facility for the treatment of their newborns.

He further said the efforts of Medical Superintendent Dr Shabbir Ahmed Mengal and the hospital administration were especially commendable. Improving medical facilities in a government hospital, starting new departments according to patients’ needs and making administrative matters effective require continuing attention.

The start of the new facilities shows the importance of administrative steps and coordinated cooperation among medical staff to improve the treatment system in the hospital. Keeping these facilities running effectively under Dr Shabbir Ahmed Mengal will be an important responsibility for the hospital administration.

The presence of Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, Building Executive Engineer Saleem Razzaq Umrani and Haji Abdul Salam Mengal, and their encouragement of the new health facilities, are also significant. Effective contact between the district administration and the Health Department can help solve public problems and improve facilities in government institutions.

In a basic sector such as public health, cooperation between institutions not only helps improve administrative matters but also strengthens the process of giving priority to public needs. Encouraging steps to improve health and highlighting public needs are an important part of their responsibilities.

In a vast area like Khuzdar, there is always a need for cooperation among elected representatives, the district administration and the Health Department to improve government medical facilities. Khuzdar Teaching Hospital serves patients from the city and from various surrounding areas. More facilities for pharmacy, emergency care, health cards and newborn care are therefore very necessary for the people of the area.
