Lasbela Sports Festival ends: DC Humaira Baloch, SSP Najeebullah Pandrani give trophies to winners

UTHAL: The final round of the Jashn-e-Azadi Lasbela Sports Festival was held successfully with the cooperation of the Lasbela Sports Department and under the supervision of the district administration. Matches in cricket, futsal, volleyball and the traditional sport of malakhra brought life back to the grounds of Lasbela.

Through the efforts of Lasbela Sports Officer Khuda Bakhsh Baloch, competitions were held in all tehsils of the district. These were shooting volleyball in the historic town of Bela, malakhra in Lakhra, beach cricket in Lyari Kundmalir, tape-ball cricket in Kanraj, and a hard-ball cricket tournament in Uthal, the divisional headquarters. The closing ceremonies were held at the Jam Kamal Khan Complex and the Jam Muhammad Futsal Stadium in Uthal.

At the main ceremony, Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Humaira Baloch, Lasbela SSP Najeebullah Pandrani, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Siraj Karim Baloch, Uthal Social Welfare Officer Abdul Samad Baloch, GTA district president Abdul Wahid Soomro and others gave trophies, medals and cash prizes to the cricket winners, Sardar MBM Club, and the runners-up, MB Shaheen. They also presented them to the futsal winners, Uthal Bazigar, and the runners-up, Uthal Eagle.

DC Humaira Baloch praised the Balochistan Sports Department and District Sports Officer Khuda Bakhsh Baloch for their strategy of keeping young people engaged in positive activities. She urged young people to focus on education, skills and healthy activities. She and SSP Najeebullah Pandrani also gave cash prizes to the winning and runners-up futsal teams and to Azaan, an Under-13 player.

The District Sports Officer presented trophies and cash prizes to the cricket teams, committees, ground workers and best players, and souvenirs to guests and organisers. Duty Officer SI Qadir Bakhsh was also given a souvenir for providing excellent security at the events. The players thanked Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Adviser for Sports Meena Majeed Baloch, Sports Secretary Dura Baloch, Sports Director General Dr Yasir Bazai, Assistant Minister for Home Babar Yousafzai and DSO Khuda Bakhsh Baloch. They requested that Lasbela be given the chance to host such events in future as well.
