Lasbela Commissioner Saira Atta to take monthly progress reports on development schemes

UTHAL: An introductory meeting of the government departments of Lasbela district was held under the chairmanship of Lasbela Division Commissioner Ms Saira Atta. Additional Deputy Commissioner Siraj Karim Baloch, officers of all government departments and representatives of K-Electric management attended.
Deputy Commissioner Humaira Baloch briefed the meeting on development projects under way in the district under BSDI, the progress of departments, and the administration’s efforts to restore Floods-hit schools under CSR. She said a project to provide furniture and solarisation for all schools in the district had been started under BSDI. Buildings were being constructed for all schools without shelter. The education sector was being given special priority, and all closed schools had become operational.
She said the District Coordination Committee was working to maintain Law and Order, while the District Rent Assessment Committee and the District Compensation Committee were active.
Every scheme to be inspected
The Commissioner appreciated the Deputy Commissioner’s efforts. She said the first introductory meeting had shown that development schemes were pending and that there was a lack of coordination between district heads and the officers concerned on departmental matters. She directed officers to complete the physical progress of development projects. She said monthly progress would be taken and every scheme would be inspected so that the people of Lasbela Division could feel a change.
The Commissioner made it clear that officers would have to deliver services. She said the Commissioner’s Office would always be open to assist them, and that absence from the place of posting or negligence by an officer of any department would not be tolerated. She directed that schemes be prepared from which the community would benefit. She said the Chief Secretary had given clear instructions that development projects be made in the collective interest.
The Commissioner took briefings from all officers one by one on the physical and financial progress of the approved development projects of their departments and on overall performance. She also asked the Finance Department officer about the service matters of employees. She also issued orders to adopt an effective strategy to stop gajja nets and trawlers to protect marine life along the Hingol coastal belt, and to set up a coordination committee, so that a mechanism could be created to stop the destruction of small fish and shrimp stocks.
