KALAT: A key meeting on the district polio campaign was held under the chairmanship of Assistant Commissioner Nadeem Akram. District Health Officer Dr Abdul Malik, WHO District Polio Officer Dr Mujtaba Bajoi, DMPPHI Jahangir Zehri and DSP Kalat Shakeel Imrani attended. Heads of the Kalat health department and other departments, and WHO representatives, also took part.

Briefing the meeting, WHO District Polio Officer Dr Mujtaba Bajoi said the campaign would begin on 2 November 2026 and run for four days, until 5 November 2026. He said 40,269 children in 19 union councils of the two tehsils of Kalat district would be given polio drops. Polio teams will vaccinate children from birth to five years of age.

Assistant Commissioner Nadeem Akram said polio was a crippling disease and giving drops was essential to protect children from it. He said children had to be healthy for a healthy society, and everyone must fight together for a polio-free society.

He said the area’s prayer leaders, ulema, journalists, poets and writers had a responsibility to raise awareness about polio among people. He asked the monitoring teams to play their full part so that no child was left without drops. He said no negligence or carelessness would be tolerated during the campaign.
