According to the Chinese newspaper, the ruling of the international tribunal has given Pakistan an unexpected success. The tribunal held that such a step should not have been taken.

The ruling of the international tribunal has given Pakistan the upper hand over India. The Indus Waters Treaty has always remained in force despite wars and tensions between the two countries.

According to the newspaper, on 31 August the Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled that Delhi has no legal grounds to suspend the treaty. The court also ordered limits on the construction of the Ratle hydropower project in Kashmir.

According to the South China Morning Post, the court’s ruling has further strengthened Pakistan’s position. The five-member panel unanimously rejected India’s arguments on the suspension of the treaty.

According to the Chinese newspaper, the international tribunal has given a clear ruling in Pakistan’s favour on India’s disputed move. It is a diplomatic success for Pakistan, which has turned India’s tactics against it.
