Barrister Gohar denies any meeting held to pick new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has denied that a meeting was held to nominate a new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he said no meeting had been held on a new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, and that “we have not even thought of any other chief minister”.
He said the question of who the new chief minister would be was never put on the agenda. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi “was, is and will remain” in the post, and no one should even think of replacing him, he said.
The PTI chairman demanded that the detention of members of the assembly, including Imran Khan’s sisters, be ended. He said a political party could not be uprooted, and the government should give up this approach.
He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were not changing because of emergency rule and Governor’s rule.
According to Barrister Gohar, the political committee, the core committee and the parliamentary committee work within separate spheres. All three take the decisions that the PTI founder tells them to, and most decisions are made on the recommendation of the political committee, he said.
He said the party had never taken any decision without Imran Khan’s wishes.
