Addressing the ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ismail Mengal said 14 August was not merely a national day. It was a day to value freedom, remember sacrifices and renew the resolve for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said Pakistan came into being through the unmatched sacrifices and struggle of the country’s forefathers and the statesmanlike leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said the young generation was the future of the country. He asked students to focus on education, character building, discipline and positive thinking. For a strong, developed and prosperous Pakistan, he said, everyone must perform their duties with honesty, hard work and national spirit. The progress of Pakistan was not the responsibility of the government alone. Every member of society had to play a part. Rising above differences, he said, people must promote national unity, brotherhood, tolerance and respect for the law.
He said the youth of Balochistan could play a prominent role in building and developing the country through education, technology, research and positive activities. He said the aim was to build a Pakistan where education, merit, justice, peace and development were the basic priorities for every citizen. At the end of the ceremony, a special prayer was offered for the security, progress, prosperity and national unity of the country. The participants pledged to fulfil their responsibilities fully for the progress and stability of Pakistan.
