GWADAR: A meeting of the water section was held under the chairmanship of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Moinur Rehman Khan. It reviewed in detail the supply of water to the city, available reserves and future needs.

The meeting was told that the water stock in Sud Dam was falling fast and the present stock was enough for about two to three months. To ensure a steady supply, water supply from Shadi Kaur Dam has been restored. About 3 to 3.5 million gallons of water are being supplied daily from the two sources.

The Director General directed that available water resources be used effectively and alternative sources be brought into use. He also directed the necessary steps to run the 1.2 MGD desalination plant at full capacity.

The meeting also reviewed the overall performance of Gwadar’s water supply system, including distribution, billing and recovery. It was said that, since the last water crisis, the supply in the city had been maintained effectively. The supply was also restored in several villages linked to Shadi Kaur Dam, where water shortages had continued for a long time. Steps were also directed for the recovery of dues.
