DHADAR, Kachhi district: Action was taken on the Quetta-Jacobabad National Highway against illegal Todi service, vehicles without route permits, use of unauthorised routes, search lights and overloading. It followed special directions from Balochistan Provincial Secretary Transport Muhammad Hayat Kakar and Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) Balochistan Secretary Abdul Majeed Jonjo.

The Balochistan PTA and Kachhi Traffic Police carried out the operation under the supervision of DIG Sibi Muhammad Parvez Umrani, DPO Kachhi Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto and Circle DSP Sher Muhammad. During the operation, 26 cars running an illegal Todi service were shut down. Another 27 goods transport vehicles were fined for having no route permit or using routes without the required permission.

Illegal search lights were also removed from a number of vehicles. Transporters found overloading were strictly directed to follow the rules.

The officials concerned made clear that action would continue to ensure effective enforcement of transport laws, stop illegal transport services and keep traffic safe and orderly on national highways. Legal action will be taken without discrimination against those who run vehicles without route permits, provide illegal services or violate other transport laws.

The officials directed transporters to follow the relevant laws, route permits and other legal requirements in full, avoid overloading and refrain from fitting illegal search lights to vehicles. Otherwise, strict action will be taken against violators.

They added that the illegal Todi car service is the biggest problem for the transport sector and government revenue. All these vehicles are without commercial registration, and action will be taken against those who carry passengers in them.
