CM Bugti says timely public access to development information is basis of transparent governance

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that timely and authentic public access to development information is the basis of transparent governance, public trust and sustainable development. He made the remarks in a message on World Development Information Day.

The launch of the first digital media policy in Balochistan is an important step towards meeting modern communication requirements and delivering information effectively.

The Chief Minister said accurate information on development matters is the right of the public. He said it is the government’s responsibility to provide citizens with information on development projects, public welfare measures and available facilities. An informed public can not only benefit better from development projects but also play an effective role in monitoring government measures and holding it to account, he said.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the effective use of digital technology can help promote public awareness, make access to information easier and ensure transparency in government measures.

Reaching remote areas

The Chief Minister said that providing development information to the population living across Balochistan’s vast area and in remote regions is especially important. Providing authentic information on health, education, employment and basic facilities can help make people aware of available opportunities and increase their participation in the development process, he said.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the benefits of development cannot be delivered effectively to the public without promoting transparency, accountability and public awareness. The responsible use of modern digital means and the timely provision of information are essential for better governance and sustainable development, he said.

The Balochistan government attaches importance to ensuring that accurate information reaches the public, and that the development process is made more transparent, inclusive and in line with public needs.
