PANJGUR: On the directions of Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kabir Zarkoon, Assistant Commissioner Iftikhar Zaheer made a surprise visit to the Teaching Hospital Headquarters Panjgur on Monday. The visit was meant to review administrative matters, facilities for patients and the presence of medical staff.

He inspected several wards, the emergency section and the laboratory. He also checked the attendance register to verify the presence of doctors and other staff.

The assistant commissioner expressed anger over some irregularities in staff attendance. He said timely medical care for patients was the first priority and that negligence in this would not be tolerated.

He warned the hospital administration and staff that all doctors and paramedical staff must strictly follow their duty hours and treat patients with courtesy. He said the hospital was a public service institution and every patient should get the best possible facilities.

He added that strict legal action would be taken against absent staff, including disciplinary measures such as stopping their salaries.

The assistant commissioner directed the hospital administration to submit a performance report to the Deputy Commissioner’s office every week, so that public welfare and the standard of Health services could be improved.
