Pakistan-Kuwait sign 2026 protocol agreement on defence cooperation

This agreement is based on the existing 2023 defence cooperation agreement, which was later ratified by the State of Kuwait in 2026. It turns the long-standing trust between the two countries into institutional and operational defence cooperation. That trust rests on a relationship shown during and after the First Gulf War.
The agreement provides a formal institutional framework to expand defence cooperation, strengthen military-to-military ties, and increase cooperation in military training and deployment. The protocol agreement is not linked to any other bilateral or multilateral agreement. It should be seen only within the framework of Pakistan-Kuwait defence relations.
It is essentially a continuation of the 2023 defence cooperation agreement and provides the procedures required for its effective implementation. The agreement is being regarded as an important step towards giving institutional form to the long-standing defence partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait and strengthening it further.
