Five Injured, Including Child, in Firing at Mizrai Adda in Quetta

QUETTA: Five people, including a child, were injured on Friday when unidentified armed men opened fire in the Mizrai Adda area of Quetta. Police said the attack took place on the Jungle Bypass near Mizrai Adda, where the assailants fled the scene after firing.
The injured have been named as Asadullah, Taur Jan, Mahmood Khan and Muhammad Hassan Ghamai, son of Rooh Gul, while a child is among the fifth victim. Police moved the injured to hospital immediately and have launched further action following the incident. No details have yet emerged about the identity of the gunmen or the motive behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the province’s economic situation remains a focus of concern. The closure of trade routes and transit with Afghanistan and Iran has all but paralysed Balochistan’s economy, badly affecting the livelihoods of millions of people dependent on cross-border trade.
The issue was raised by speakers at an All Parties Conference hosted by the Awami National Party, who highlighted the impact of the trade route closures on the province. Participating leaders discussed the problems faced by those linked to border trade.
Law and order and economic hardship are both issues directly affecting the daily lives of the province’s people. Authorities are expected to swiftly apprehend those involved in the firing incident.
