TURBAT: Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Mir Zahoor Ahmed Balidi said on November 6, 2026, that the government is taking comprehensive steps across several sectors to speed up development in Balochistan and provide basic facilities to the public. Education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and providing dignified employment to young people are included in government priorities, and work is progressing on several projects under them. He made these remarks while speaking at the “Gand o Nand” programme organised by the Turbat Press Club.

Education, health and youth projects

He said that 14,500 teachers have been recruited to strengthen the province’s education system. Subject specialists for chemistry, physics, biology and English are also being appointed to improve teaching standards in schools. Similarly, steps are being taken to reform the health sector and improve medical facilities.

Describing government youth projects, he said a youth programme costing Rs16 billion has been launched, under which young people will be provided with business loans, technical skills and employment opportunities. The plan under this project also includes giving technical training to 30,000 young people and sending them abroad to find work.

Agriculture, infrastructure and Kech development projects

He said work is under way on various schemes for agriculture, road construction and other infrastructure development. Referring to development activities in Kech district, the provincial minister said several important projects in his constituency are nearing completion. The launch of the Green Bus Service in Turbat is also an important step in this direction, providing travel facilities to citizens, particularly those on low and middle incomes.

He further said that the establishment of a cath lab in Kech has been approved, and that a model village scheme has been introduced to provide basic facilities in rural areas and improve living standards.

Criticising the political stance of some nationalist parties, he said a negative campaign has long been run against several major past development projects in Balochistan. These include the Hub Industrial Zone, CPEC, Gwadar Port, the Gishkore Dam and the South Balochistan Package. He said such projects have the potential to promote economic activity, improve infrastructure and create new opportunities for development for the people.

Hafiz Salahuddin Salafi, president of the Turbat Press Club, also spoke at the programme. He thanked Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Balidi for approving and releasing a regular grant of Rs2 million for the press club. He asked the minister to raise the annual regular grant to Rs5 million, in view of the club’s growing needs, and to play his part in approving and making practical progress on a housing scheme for journalists.
