Ghazanfar and Imran Tahir Win Senior Doubles at Shehryar Malik Memorial Tennis

LAHORE (Online): In the 10th Shehryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Championship, being played at the Punjab Sports Board Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park, the pair of Brigadier (retd) Ghazanfar and Imran Tahir won the Senior 60+ Doubles title. Ashna Sohail and Mahak Khokhar were the winners of the Ladies Doubles.

In the Senior 60+ Doubles final, played on Friday, Brigadier (retd) Ghazanfar and Imran Tahir delivered an outstanding performance to defeat Salim and Dr Mushtaq Haroon 6-1 and 6-2 in a one-sided contest, claiming the trophy.

In the Senior 45+ Doubles final, the pair of Hadi Hussain and Dr Suhaib came through a hard-fought match against Khurram Imtiaz and Arif Firoz, winning 2-6, 6-2 and 5-10.

In the Ladies Doubles final, Ashna Sohail and Mahak Khokhar beat their rivals Basmal Zia and Khadija Khalil 0-6 and 1-6 to win the title.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, the winning pair had defeated Fajr Fayyaz and Isha Rabbi 2-6 and 1-6, while Basmal and Khadija had qualified for the final with a 3-6 and 6-7 win.

In the junior events, M Ayan of Fatima Group defeated M Ibrahim Hussain Gul 0-4 and 0-4 in the Boys Under-12 semi-final. In Boys Under-14, M Muaz beat Alian Ali 2-4 and 2-4 to reach the final. In the Boys and Girls Under-10 pre-quarter-finals, Umm Ayman, Wajiha Fatima and Faiz Uzair Rana each won by one-sided scores of 0-6.
