Meena Majeed Baloch meets IG Police, discusses transporters’ safety and police hiring in Tump

QUETTA: Provincial Adviser for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed Baloch met Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Hayat at his office. The meeting discussed the safety of transporters in Makran division, especially in Kech district and the newly created Tump district, and the recruitment of local youth to the police.

During the meeting, Meena Majeed Baloch condemned the alleged extortion of traders and transporters by banned organisations. She also condemned the burning of vehicles of those who refused to pay. She said such incidents hurt the economic condition of working people, as many families depend on a single vehicle for their livelihood.

The provincial adviser urged the IG Police to take immediate action, in accordance with the law, against those involved in extortion and harassment of transporters. She also called for effective security measures to protect the lives and property of traders, transporters and workers.

IG Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Hayat assured her that all available resources would be used to protect traders and transporters, act against those involved in extortion and make security arrangements more effective.

Police recruitment in Tump

The meeting also discussed creating job opportunities in the police for the youth of Tump district. The IG Police said police recruitment for Tump district was planned for the next phase, after Kech and Gwadar districts. He said this would give local youth job opportunities and help strengthen policing in the area.

Meena Majeed Baloch said the Balochistan government would continue, together with the relevant security and administrative institutions, to take steps to protect the lives and property of the people, promote trade and provide jobs to youth.
