Meena Majeed Baloch meets IG Balochistan, seeks protection for Makran transporters

QUETTA: Provincial Adviser on Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed Baloch met Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Hayat in his office. The meeting discussed the protection of transporters in Makran division, particularly in Kech district and the newly created Tump district, and the recruitment of local youth into the police.
Extortion condemned
Meena Majeed Baloch condemned the alleged extortion of traders and transporters by banned organisations, and incidents in which vehicles were set on fire when the demands were not met. She said such incidents hurt the economic condition of working people, as many families depend on a single vehicle for their livelihood.
The provincial adviser urged the IG Police to take immediate action, in accordance with the law, against those involved in extortion and harassment of transporters. She also called for effective security measures to protect the lives and property of traders, transporters and workers.
IG Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Hayat assured her that all available resources would be used to protect traders and transporters, act against those involved in extortion and make security arrangements more effective.
Police recruitment in Tump
The meeting also discussed creating job opportunities in the police for the youth of Tump district. The IG Police said recruitment for Tump district was planned for the next phase, after Kech and Gwadar. He said this would give local youth job opportunities and help strengthen policing in the area.
Meena Majeed Baloch said the Balochistan government would continue to work with the relevant security and administrative bodies to protect the lives and property of the people, promote trade and provide job opportunities to youth.
