Kalat DC Ayesha Zehri chairs meeting on vegetable market projects and traders’ problems

KALAT: An important meeting was held under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Engineer Ayesha Zehri on development projects at the vegetable market and the early resolution of problems faced by vegetable and fruit sellers.

The meeting held detailed discussions on the schemes approved for the vegetable market under the BSDI, including the installation of a water supply bore, tuff tiling in the market and the installation of street lights. It also reviewed the implementation of the projects, the quality of construction work and ways to ensure its timely completion.

The meeting also discussed in detail the immediate shifting of vegetable and fruit sellers to the shops and sheds allotted to them. The aim is to organise the working of the vegetable market and end the difficulties faced by traders.

A committee was also formed at the meeting. It will conduct a survey and present proposals within a week, so that the remaining shops can also be made functional in line with its report.

Instructions from the chairman and the deputy commissioner

Municipal Committee Chairman Nawabzada Shoaib Jan Zehri said at the meeting that providing basic facilities at the vegetable market and completing the development projects on time were among the district administration’s priorities. He directed officers of the departments concerned to speed up work on all approved schemes, including water supply, tuff tiling and the installation of street lights, and not to compromise on the quality of construction work.

Deputy Commissioner Engineer Ayesha Zehri urged municipal officers at the meeting to ensure a prompt and effective solution to the problems faced by vegetable and fruit sellers, and to take the necessary steps to shift them to their allotted shops and sheds. She said better arrangements, cleanliness and basic facilities at the vegetable market would not only benefit traders but also make it easier for citizens to buy food items.

The deputy commissioner directed the officers concerned to complete the development projects quickly through mutual coordination and an effective strategy, and to use all available resources to make the vegetable market an organised, clean and functional trading centre.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahnawaz Baloch, Municipal Committee Chairman Nawabzada Shoaib Jan Zehri, Assistant Director Local Government Saeed Ahmed Sasoli, SDO Public Health Hidayatullah Baloch, Tehsildar Haji Abdul Ghaffar Lehri and representatives of vegetable and fruit sellers attended the meeting.
