KALAT: In line with the orders of the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the administration is active in Kalat district to make the anti-polio campaign fully successful and rid the district of the crippling disease.

Review of day-three performance

An important review meeting was held at the end of the third day of the campaign. It was chaired by Kalat Deputy Commissioner Engineer Ayesha Zehri.

District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Abdul Malik, Deputy DHO Dr Muhammad Iqbal Nurzai, MS Dr Somar Khan and DMP PPHI Kalat Jahangir Zehri attended. All monitoring officers and Union Council Monitoring Officers (UCMOs) were also present.

The meeting discussed in detail the overall performance of the polio teams on the third day, achievement of the set target, problems faced in the field, refusal cases and security arrangements.

The UCMOs and monitoring officers presented detailed reports on the daily performance of the field teams and the challenges they faced.

Strict directions for the final day

After reviewing the performance, Deputy Commissioner Kalat Engineer Ayesha Zehri issued strict directions to the polio teams and monitoring officers. She said: “Tomorrow is the last day of the campaign, the ‘catch-up’ day. The polio teams must go door to door and give polio drops to children who were missed, visiting children and refusal cases (children of parents who refused). No child in the district should be left out of this Immunization campaign, so that a polio-free society can be built.”

She also instructed all monitoring officers to tighten supervision in the field on the final day and to give the teams full support.
