Independence Day football tournament begins in Harnai

HARNAI: A football tournament has been organised in Harnai district as part of the ongoing Independence Day celebrations on 14 August. Deputy Commissioner Harnai Arshad Hussain Jamali attended the opening ceremony as chief guest along with Assistant Commissioner Khost Asrar Ahmed Shahwani. The two officially inaugurated the tournament jointly.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the district administration officers said that 14 August is a symbol of national unity, renewal of pledge and national spirit. They said it was most welcome that healthy and positive activities were being held for young people on the occasion, so that the younger generation could prove its talent on the playing fields.

They said that sports teach discipline, brotherhood and tolerance. The district administration, they said, is constantly striving to give the youth of the district every possible facility and the best platform, so that the culture of sports could be promoted further in the area.

Local fans, players and notables of the area attended the opening match in large numbers and thanked the district administration. The football tournament is part of the events being held for 14 August. All its matches will be played during Independence Week.
