GWADAR: Member of the Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch formally inaugurated a new project to supply water to several villages along the Shadi Kaur-Gwadar main water transmission line. Under the project, water supply has begun from the Shadi Kaur transmission line to Shatangi, Kunda Sol, Chakuli and other remote rural areas. The long-standing drinking water problem of residents in these areas has been resolved for good.

Chief Engineer of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad, Project Director (Water) Mirjan Baloch, Assistant Engineer Kambar Kalmati, Engineer Kamran and PA to the MPA Waseem Samad attended the inauguration. Elders of the area and a large number of people from various villages were also present.

Project Director (Water) Mirjan Baloch said the Gwadar Development Authority had already completed laying the pipeline to supply water to these areas. After that, several new villages were connected to the Shadi Kaur main transmission line and water supply to them began. Dozens of villages in Kapar, Nalent and adjoining areas are already connected to the line. New villages are also being linked to the same system in phases to widen its reach.

The project will give residents of remote areas access to drinking water. The local population will no longer have to travel long distances for water or depend on alternative sources. The step is being described as important progress in providing basic facilities in the rural areas of Gwadar and in resolving the long-standing water problem.

Later, Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad and Project Director (Water) Mirjan Baloch also visited the Chaur pumping station. They reviewed the water supplied to Gwadar and its condition.
