Gwadar’s Marine Drive to get solar street lights from Boat Basin to Zahoor Shah Hashmi Chowk

GWADAR: Under the provincial government’s progressive, eco-friendly and sustainable energy policy, the project to light up Marine Drive with solar street lights is in its final stages, on the directions of Gwadar Development Authority Director General Moinur Rehman Khan.
Under the project, the damaged street lights from Boat Basin to Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Chowk are being restored and moved to a solar system. The road will stay lit even during long power outages, electricity costs will fall and renewable energy will be promoted. Solarisation is also expected to reduce reliance on conventional cables and complaints of cable theft.
According to the GDA, the lights of Marine Drive, which had dimmed for some time, are shining again. This has improved the look of the popular tourist and recreational spot. Residents and tourists now enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and a sense of safety in the evening and at night.
The authority’s upcoming projects include installing solar street lights on other major roads of the city, particularly Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Road. This has been described as an important step towards making Gwadar a modern, well-lit and eco-friendly city.
