GDA director general visits Gwadar’s first local tuff tile and paver plant

GWADAR: Director General of the Gwadar Development Authority Moinur Rehman Khan visited a local plant in Gwadar that produces tuff tiles and pavers. The plant’s owner, well-known contractor Haji Sharif Zemil, briefed him on its various sections, its production capacity and the construction materials it makes. The GDA Chief Engineer, Haji Syed Muhammad, the Superintending Engineer Roads, Nadir Baloch, and other officials were also with him.
Haji Sharif Zemil said it was Gwadar’s first and only local plant where tuff tiles and pavers would be made to high quality and prescribed construction standards. In the past, these and other construction materials had to be brought from Karachi, which was costly because of the extra transport charges. Local availability would make it easier to meet the needs of construction projects and would also save money and time, he said.
Moinur Rehman Khan said private sector investment in Gwadar’s construction sector was welcome. He said local production of construction materials would advance Gwadar’s development. Public development projects, the private sector and citizens would all get quality materials on time.
He said local products and private investment in Gwadar would be encouraged, and the GDA was taking every possible step to provide a favourable environment for investment and business activity. He said the private sector had an important role in Gwadar’s development alongside government institutions, and that the promotion of local industry would increase economic activity and jobs.
