Three-day Balochistan Model United Nations youth programme begins at BUITEMS Quetta

QUETTA: A three-day youth programme, the Balochistan Model United Nations (BMUN), has begun with the cooperation of the Balochistan Board of Investment (BBOIT). It follows the vision and directions of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and aims to empower the province’s young people, bring out their leadership qualities and prepare them for the demands of the modern age.
The programme is being held at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS). Students are being given the chance to express their views on important national and international issues, hold dialogue and debates, and present proposals to solve problems.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Balochistan Board of Investment Chief Executive Officer Qaim Lashari said that young people are the future and the most valuable asset of Balochistan. To meet the challenges of the present day, he said, young people must be equipped with modern skills, positive thinking, leadership qualities and business awareness.
He said BBOIT would provide every possible support to turn the abilities of young people into economic opportunities. Guiding and assisting young people to enter the business world, turn their ideas into reality, benefit from investment opportunities and make use of their talents is among the board’s priorities.
Qaim Lashari said programmes such as BMUN play an important role in promoting leadership, research, dialogue, decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among young people. He said the provincial government, under Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, is taking practical steps to make young people effective partners in the development process. The Balochistan Board of Investment, he added, will also continue its efforts to promote the business skills of young people and make them economically independent.
