Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that negative propaganda carried out through state machinery aims to divert attention from the country’s crises and the party’s firm national stance on public rights. According to him, the JUI stands by its principled position, and no change in it is possible.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman made the remarks in Islamabad while speaking during a meeting with Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi, provincial chief of JUI Balochistan.

He said the party’s position on public rights, the plunder of minerals and natural resources, the imposition of governor’s rule and the seizure of national assets was clear and unequivocal. These, he said, were matters directly linked to the public and the future of the country, and no compromise could be made on them.

Referring to the country’s economic deterioration and the hardships faced by the public, the JUI chief said the party’s struggle against these conditions would continue. He stressed that instead of focusing on resolving the real problems, the government was running a hostile campaign whose purpose was to keep public opinion away from the real questions.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman complained that a campaign of negative conspiracies, ridicule and unethical attacks against him and other party leaders was ongoing. He said such campaigns were incompatible with national dignity and democratic values, and they had a harmful effect on the political climate.

Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi assured that workers in Balochistan would never hesitate to play the role of the vanguard on any directive from the party’s central leadership, and that full implementation of the leadership’s instructions would be ensured.

Provincial Secretary General Agha Mehmood Shah and Qalat district chief Agha Fazlur Rehman Shah were also present at the meeting.
