First digital marriage certificate issued in Balochistan under Nadra pilot project

QUETTA: The Balochistan government and Nadra have successfully launched, on a pilot basis, digital Nikah registration and a digital solemnisation module in the province for the first time.

First digital marriage certificate issued

Under the project, the first digital Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC) in Balochistan was issued at Union Council Haji Ghaibi Road, Ward No 22, Metropolitan Corporation Quetta.

According to details, the registration and licence of Maulvi Samiullah, the first digitally registered Nikah registrar in Balochistan, were issued on 28 October 2026. The digital registration of the first Nikah through him was completed on 29 October, and the Marriage Registration Certificate was issued on 30 October 2026.

Dr Nosheen Khan, Deputy Director, Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, Dawood Momand, Assistant Director (CRVS), Nadra, and Muhammad Arif, Field Officer, Quetta district, played an important role in the success of the pilot project. Maulvi Samiullah registered the first Nikah as the first digitally registered Nikah registrar in Balochistan.

New digital system

Under the new digital system, registered Nikah registrars will be able to send the details of a Nikah and the required documents to the relevant union council through the Pak ID mobile application.

After verification and approval by the union council secretary, the Marriage Registration Certificate will be generated automatically. The Nikah registrar, the groom and the bride will be able to download and print it through their own Pak ID accounts.

The main aim of the digital initiative is to make the registration of Nikah and marriage transparent, secure, effective and fast, reduce manual procedures and provide citizens with modern facilities.

The successful start of the project in Balochistan is being described as an important milestone towards the digitisation of civil registration services. It will also pave the way for extending the facility to other union councils of the province in future.
