Naseerabad deputy commissioner reviews preparations for November polio campaign
NASEERABAD: A district meeting on the complete eradication of polio and the national anti-polio campaign due to start next month, November, was held under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Virender Lal. The meeting reviewed in detail the preparations and arrangements for the campaign.
District Health Officer Dr Ayaz Hussain Jamali, Medical Superintendent Dr Habibullah Pandrani and officials of the Health Department and other departments concerned attended the meeting.
Review of preparations for the campaign
Health Department officials gave the Deputy Commissioner a detailed briefing on the arrangements, preparations and progress made so far for the campaign. The meeting reviewed the formation of teams, training, micro-planning, identification of sensitive areas, setting of targets for children, availability of vaccine and the cold chain system, among other important matters.
The meeting stressed that all departments concerned should perform their duties in coordination and under a joint strategy to make the campaign a success. This, it said, would ensure that every child up to the age of five across the district is given polio drops. Special attention should be paid to remote areas, rural settlements and places where difficulties arose in giving drops to children during previous campaigns.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers concerned to use all available resources to set up an effective system of monitoring and supervision during the campaign. He directed that the attendance and performance of teams be checked regularly and that no room be left for any lapse or negligence.
He said that the eradication of polio is a national responsibility and that all institutions must play their part jointly in this important national duty. He added that effective steps should be taken to raise awareness among parents and the public, so that every household is made aware of the importance of polio drops and the campaign’s targets can be achieved with public cooperation.
