Petrol relief: government explains registration and token process
According to the Ministry of IT, citizens must first register to receive the relief. For registration, they must text REG, followed by their CNIC number, to 9771. They must also give the vehicle number, the provincial code and the date of registration.
The ministry said a fuel token will be required to get petrol at the discounted rate. For this, citizens must text TOK to 9771. Petrol at the discounted price can be bought by showing the fuel token received.
According to the ministry, petrol relief will begin in Islamabad from the night between Monday and Tuesday. In other parts of the country, relief will be provided from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
Eligible citizens will be given a discount of Rs100 per litre of petrol. The limit has been set at 20 litres a month for motorcycles and chingchi rickshaws, and 30 litres a month for vehicles up to 800cc.
