Zelensky says Ukraine hit by 1,000 drones, Putin wants country destroyed
KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine was attacked with 1,000 drones the previous day and that Putin wants to destroy Ukraine.
In a statement, the Ukrainian president said the United States says it is difficult to talk to Zelensky, while it is easy to settle matters with Putin.
According to Zelensky, Putin does not respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said Putin does not even recognise Ukraine as an independent country and nation.
The question of Donbas and Kyiv
The Ukrainian president said it was wrong to think that Putin wants to seize only eastern Ukraine. He said that if Putin wants Donbas, then why did Russia try to seize Kyiv. Kyiv is not in Donbas but is the capital of Ukraine.
Zelensky said a state cannot survive without its capital. He said that if Ukraine were destroyed, 20 million citizens would be forced to move to Europe.
The Ukrainian president added that Putin’s real aim is the complete destruction of Ukraine.
