KHUZDAR: Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Abdul Razzaq Sasoli summoned both sides in the long-running land dispute between the Clerks’ Association and local tribesmen to his office for talks and a peaceful settlement. Assistant Commissioner Wadh Akbar Ali Mazarzai was also present.

The meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office under his chairmanship. Both sides were heard in detail. According to sources, government employees maintain that the land was formally allotted to them by the government decades ago. The tribal side claims that a part of it is its own property and says it has approached the court and obtained a stay order.

Records sought from patwaris

The two sides argued for a long time at the meeting. After hearing both, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sasoli made it clear that the district administration did not aim to deprive anyone of their rights. He said its aim was a lasting solution in line with the law, the records and the requirements of justice.

It was decided that the full land record and a report would be sought from the patwaris concerned for further inquiry. Another joint meeting will be held on Friday, where a final decision will be taken in the light of the report. However, the deadlock over the land remained until the end of the meeting.

Those present included All Parties Citizens’ Action Committee Khuzdar Chairman Bashir Ahmed Jattak, General Secretary Abdul Qadeer Zehri, Maulana Muhammad Ishaq Shahwani, Mir Abdul Rehman Zehri, Hafiz Hamidullah Mengal, Abdul Hameed Baloch, Juma Khan Shakrani, Abdullah Shahwani, Mir Ashraf Ali Mengal, Safar Khan Mengal, Munir Ahmed Zehri, Mir Idrees Zehri, Dr Huzoor Bakhsh Zehri and advocate Ghulam Nabi Mengal, among other representatives. Manzoor Ahmed, Noshad, Aslam Zehri, Naseer Khiazai and others attended on behalf of the Clerks’ Association. Tribal elders present included Malik Abdul Latif Shahwani and Abdul Kabeer Shahwani, among others.
