Iran claims retaliatory strikes on US bases in UAE and Jordan, and on ships

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have claimed that two US military bases in Jordan were targeted with ballistic missiles in response to an attack by US forces on Iran’s Larak island.

According to Iranian state media, the Revolutionary Guards hit the US bases at King Hussein and Azraq in Jordan with missile strikes. Iranian officials described the action as a response to the US attack on Larak island.

US sources, on the other hand, said almost all the missiles fired from Iran were intercepted in the air. According to initial reports, the attack caused no major damage. US officials said US and allied defence systems in Jordan helped foil the incoming missiles.

The development came after US forces struck two Revolutionary Guards rocket launchers on Iran’s Larak island. US officials claim Iranian forces were preparing to lay naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz using these launchers.

The Revolutionary Guards claimed that several Iranian personnel and civilians were killed and wounded in the US attack. However, the final number of deaths was not immediately available.

Later, the Iranian army claimed that in one operation it had targeted a location at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE where US helicopters and military personnel were present.

According to the Iranian army’s public relations wing, the attacks were carried out in response to the strike by US forces on Larak island last night.
