Hayat Khan Achakzai pays tribute to Karsaz martyrs, vows to continue struggle

QUETTA: Pakistan Peoples Party Balochistan Provincial Deputy Secretary Information Hayat Khan Achakzai has paid tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy. He said the party would always remember the sacrifices of its martyrs and would continue its struggle to complete their mission.
In a statement issued here, he said 18 October 2007 was a tragic day in Pakistan’s democratic history, when the democratic convoy was targeted in a terrorist attack on the return of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to the country.
According to him, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s return home was a symbol of the aspirations of the people, democratic resolve and the struggle against dictatorship. The attempt to silence the voice of democracy through terrorism did not succeed, he said.
Hayat Khan Achakzai said the history of the Pakistan Peoples Party was one of unmatched sacrifices and continuous struggle for the restoration and consolidation of democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution and the protection of people’s rights. The immortal sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs were a precious asset of the party and a guiding light for future generations, he said.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party, following the ideas and mission of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, would continue the struggle to protect democratic values, public freedoms and fundamental rights under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
