KARACHI: Foodpanda has introduced a safety feature based on advanced telematics technology in its mobile app to improve the safety of delivery riders.

The system has been developed with Sentiance, a global provider of technology that analyses human behaviour. It will help riders understand their driving style, receive personalised safety information and get guidance on driving carefully.

How the system will work

Sentiance’s mobile software has been added to Foodpanda’s rider app. The system processes data from the smartphone’s motion sensors, including the location system, accelerometer and gyroscope, on the phone itself.

Riders will be able to view analytical information about their driving through a dedicated safety hub in the app. This includes a personal safe-driving score and safety recommendations.

The aim is to encourage careful driving, reduce the risk of accidents on the roads and improve the safety of delivery staff in the long term.

Foodpanda Pakistan’s Director Logistics, Ahsan Malik, said the physical safety and well-being of delivery partners are among the company’s top priorities.

According to him, adding Sentiance’s technology to the rider app is turning everyday smartphones into safety aids. This will help riders improve their driving and stay safer on the road.
