Dar phones Fazlur Rehman as govt makes last bid to reach opposition

ISLAMABAD (Atemad Desk): The federal government has decided to make a last attempt to reach the opposition through Maulana Fazlur Rehman before any final decision on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar spoke to the Maulana by telephone during the cabinet meeting.

At the federal cabinet meeting, it was proposed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman be brought in before the final decision. In the telephone conversation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was urged to support the federal government against terrorism.

After this contact, Maulana Fazlur Rehman spoke again by telephone to PTI leader Asad Qaiser and informed him of the details of the talks with the government. The Maulana is expected to describe the state of political contacts at a press conference in the evening.

Earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman had said in a message that the talks were moving in a positive direction. However, he said that if an emergency was imposed, the JUI would oppose it to the last.
