WASHINGTON: The administration of US President Donald Trump has made it clear that the United States will not attack Iran before the midterm elections in November.

According to Arab TV, White House deputy spokesperson Anna Kelly was responding to a question about alleged talks between President Trump and Netanyahu on targeting Iran’s leadership. She said that, according to President Trump, Iran is in very poor condition both economically and militarily.

She also claimed that the naval blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz would continue with full force, and that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were continuing at a record level despite the Iranian closure.

Anna Kelly said in clear words that the US would not attack Iran at any time before the November midterm elections.

Netanyahu’s claim and Trump’s hint

Earlier, President Trump had also hinted that he would refrain from attacking Iran before the midterm elections, but would carry out a full and final attack afterwards.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had claimed that President Trump fully supported his plan to eliminate Iran’s leadership. However, the latest White House statement has denied any immediate attack.

The midterm elections in the US will be held in November. However, President Trump’s popularity has fallen sharply because of rising petrol prices due to the Iran war and the lack of significant success in the war, and the shadows of his defeat in several contests are deepening.
