MOSCOW: Russian armed forces carried out overnight drone strikes in several parts of Ukraine. The strikes targeted logistics centres, port facilities and ships used to carry military supplies.

According to the Russian defence ministry, the targets were key facilities used to store and move military and dual-use goods for the Ukrainian army.

Khmelnytskyi, Kovel and Reni port targeted

The ministry said the Grand Import logistics centre in the city of Khmelnytskyi was hit. Military and dual-use goods meant for the Ukrainian army were stored there.

The statement said the transport and logistics centre of the Vendor Trans Service company in Kovel, in Volyn region, was also targeted. Russian officials said the centre was used to store and distribute supplies and other essential resources for the Ukrainian army.

The Russian defence ministry claimed that three cargo ships carrying military and dual-use goods for the Ukrainian army were hit at Reni port. Loading and unloading facilities at the port were also hit in the attack.

Russian officials said a cargo ship heading for Odesa port in the Black Sea was also attacked. Russia claims the ship was carrying military supplies for Ukraine.

Energy facilities damaged in Ukraine

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, an industrial warehouse in Kyiv region was damaged and caught fire. The fire was brought under control after rescue operations.

Maksym Kozytskyi, governor of Lviv region, said two explosions damaged an important energy infrastructure facility in the area. According to Taras Pastukh, head of the Ternopil regional military administration, three energy facilities in the region were affected.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration, also confirmed damage to energy facilities but did not give further details.

The Russian defence ministry described the strikes as action against the system used to supply and store goods for the Ukrainian army. Ukrainian officials have reported damage to industrial and energy facilities in several regions.

The Russian claims could not be independently verified. Details of any possible casualties have also not emerged.
