US has assured Iran deal is wanted, says Qatar

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said Qatar’s mediation team was in contact with Tehran and Washington and was examining the possibility of resuming talks.
He said the mediators were travelling between different capitals to help make progress on the matter.
Mr al-Ansari said Qatar had also received assurances from officials of the US administration that Washington wanted to reach an agreement.
According to the Qatari spokesman, regional solutions and an international consensus were necessary for stability in the region. Such a consensus, he said, must ensure the protection of key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz.
He said that if one state established control over a waterway and used it as a weapon, it could set a dangerous example for everyone.
