US embassy reports altered to shield Israeli government from criticism, says NYT

NEW YORK: US embassy reports have been altered to shield the Israeli government from criticism by Washington, it has emerged.
This was revealed in an investigative report by the New York Times. It says David Milstein, senior adviser to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, deliberately blocked and delayed embassy reports and made changes to them.
According to the report, since taking up his post in April 2025, Milstein has interfered in diplomatic reports on a number of important subjects to benefit the Netanyahu government.
The report also says Milstein is undermining US diplomatic efforts on Israeli settlement plans, settler violence and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Members of Congress are demanding accountability for the killing of 9 Palestinian-American citizens by Israeli forces and settlers. However, Milstein also suppressed the US embassy’s report on this, so that lawmakers could not investigate further.
