Meningitis vaccination certificate mandatory for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims: Mustafa Kamal

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Mustafa Kamal said that people travelling abroad and those arriving from overseas should get vaccinated. He said travellers must carry a meningitis vaccine certificate. He said the certificate is especially important for those going for Hajj and Umrah.

He said the new Travellers Vaccination Centre would offer international travellers vaccination at a single place. This, he said, would further improve protective measures for people travelling abroad.

On the occasion, Mustafa Kamal also responded to criticism over an old video of his. He said he had been engaged in public service about 20 to 21 years ago as well. He said he was seen working on the streets and in hospitals late at night, in the rain and in difficult conditions.

The federal minister said the number of beds at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital was increased during his tenure and various facilities were provided for patients. According to him, extra beds had to be installed in the hospital at that time, and a ventilator facility was also provided for children.

Explaining the old video, Mustafa Kamal said the situation shown in it needed to be seen in full context. He said he was a human being, so he felt anger at wrongdoing, and also felt sorrow and happiness.

He said his anger at the time of the tragedy was directed at his own people over how the incident had happened. Mustafa Kamal said an incident should not be presented out of context by showing old videos on Social Media or in the media.
