Momina Iqbal harassment case: investigator clears Saqib Chadhar and wife Samira

A significant development has taken place in the case of harassing actress Momina Iqbal and threatening to kill her, at the sessions court in Lahore.
The investigating officer told the court that PML-N member of the Punjab Assembly Saqib Chadhar and his wife Samira had been found innocent for now and that their arrest was not required. The investigating officer of the NCCIA submitted an investigation report on Saqib Chadhar and his wife to the court.
The investigating officer said the NCCIA had changed the investigation of the case and formed a joint investigation team, after which the matter was investigated afresh. In light of the investigating officer’s statement, PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar withdrew his interim bail.
The court disposed of the bail petition of Saqib Chadhar and his wife Samira as withdrawn.
During the hearing, actress Momina Iqbal appeared before the court with her lawyer, Adnan Ehsan. Her lawyer objected to the investigation report. He argued that the NCCIA had changed the investigation without taking the complainant into confidence. He said the new investigating officer had allegedly cleared the accused without a complete investigation.
The lawyer asked the court to review the investigation process and the matter of declaring the accused innocent.
It may be recalled that the NCCIA has registered a case against PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar on the complaint of actress Momina Iqbal, over allegations of harassment and threats to kill.
