LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has issued an important ruling concerning candidates of MDCAT 2026. It has ordered that the question papers of all codes of the examination held in Punjab be uploaded to a website.

The court ruled that the question papers will remain available to the public until the admission process is complete. After the process ends, objections will also be invited from candidates under the relevant policy.

Written judgment

In an 11-page written judgment on a petition filed by Rayan Shahid, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi held that no proper justification had been given for the PMDC letter of 10 September withdrawing the question papers.

The judgment said candidates were denied access to the papers through both a hard copy and the website.

The court remarked that it was practically impossible to remember 180 questions from memory alone and raise objections to them. It said the procedure for objections and rechecking existed on paper but did not prove effective in practice.

According to the written judgment, the counsel for UHS argued that candidates had been allowed to take the question paper with them under the guidelines. He said no amending letter was later issued on this permission.

The court rejected the preliminary objection and held that examination matters are also not beyond judicial review.

The judgment made clear that the order is limited to the MDCAT 2026 question papers for the examination held in Punjab only.

The court also expressed displeasure that the UHS Registrar did not appear despite a court order.
