ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has said that remembering the sacrifices and services of national heroes and introducing the new generation to the country’s history are among the priorities of the National Heritage and Culture Division. He said it is only by following in the footsteps of our forefathers that we can play our part in the progress of the country and the nation.

He was inaugurating a special photo exhibition at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on the 75th death anniversary of the country’s first prime minister, Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan. Liaquat Ali Khan holds a prominent place among the founders of Pakistan.

Samia Liaquat Ali Khan, the granddaughter’s daughter of Shaheed-e-Millat, attended the ceremony as chief guest. The federal minister expressed his pleasure at the holding of the exhibition. He said it was a source of joy that a member of Shaheed-e-Millat’s family was present on the occasion.

He said that institutions under the National Heritage and Culture Division are organising such activities to highlight the lives, services and sacrifices of national figures. He also praised the efforts of the Secretary of the National Heritage and Culture Division, Asad Rehman Gilani.

Aurangzeb Khan Khichi said such exhibitions remind us of the sacrifices of our forefathers. He said they offer a chance to renew our resolve to play our part in Pakistan’s progress and prosperity by following in their footsteps.

He said the PNCA’s initiative would be expanded further. Youth and students of the twin cities would also be invited to see the exhibition, so that they could be brought closer to their history, national leaders and the struggle of the Pakistan Movement.

He said the division is making every effort to pass on the memory and services of national heroes to the new generation. He said this would help young people remember their benefactors and continue to play a part in building the country and the nation.

Samia Liaquat Ali Khan expressed her pleasure at the holding of the exhibition. She thanked the federal minister and the Secretary of the National Heritage and Culture Division.

Recalling memories of her family, she said the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan was the greatest tragedy of their lives. She said it brought a sudden and decisive change to her family’s life.

She said such events and exhibitions are important in keeping alive the life and services of Shaheed-e-Millat and his role in national history. The purpose of the exhibition is to introduce the new generation to the struggle and sacrifices of its national leaders.
