Army deployed in Rawalpindi for six months at Punjab’s request
The notification says the deployment takes effect immediately and has been set for six months. The army will be deployed to deal effectively with any emergency or unforeseen situation, as required by the district administration.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the decision to deploy the army in Rawalpindi was taken on a request from the Punjab Home Department. The notification says the Punjab Home Department made the request on 22 July 2026.
The notification says the army will work with the district administration to maintain Law and Order and will assist in dealing with any untoward or unforeseen situation.
