WASHINGTON: No solution has yet been found to end the conflict between Iran and the United States, as the fighting enters its eighth month. Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance said Washington wants a final assurance from Tehran on the nuclear issue.

In an interview on Sunday, Vance said, “We want to get a final and firm assurance from the Iranians that they will not rebuild their nuclear programme.”

He also said fuel prices would fall across the world, including in the United States, once the conflict with Iran ended.

Stand on continuing the war

JD Vance stressed that the United States had achieved a decisive success by destroying Iran’s nuclear programme. However, he said the war must continue to stop Iran from restoring its nuclear capabilities and to avoid a crisis in the global energy supply.

Vance said, “I will be the first to admit that fuel prices are very high, but they would have been three times higher if the US Navy had not kept oil and gas moving through the Strait of Hormuz.”
